In the world of Impulse, this ancient, sprawling city is the last known bastion of civilization, bordered by immense walls built long before anyone can remember. No one alive has any memory or records of what lies beyond, but whispers speak of strange lands and hidden wonders.
Generations ago, a powerful, cryptic entity known as Atlas Veritas appeared and established the arena system, claiming it was the only way to unlock the gates to the outside world. Atlas Veritas declared that only the strongest warriors, those who proved themselves in the grand arenas of Warpacks and Cairo Arena, would be worthy of leaving the city’s confines and venturing into the great unknown.
Each victory brings glory and gathers “Essence,” an ancient resource that could one day form the key to understanding the Atlas Veritas’ challenge and opening the city’s gates.
By fostering intense competition, the tournaments have grown to become a culture of their own, attracting warriors from all walks of life who seek either the thrill of battle, the promise of exploring the world oustide the worlds and the hidden truths about their world.
In Impulse, the Impulse Point is more than just currency. It carries a faint glow, believed to be imbued with Essence. Each coin represents a warrior’s dedication to the arenas, as it’s earned only through victories or by completing particularly challenging quests. Rumor has it that a warrior with enough Points might even receive a chance to go out of the walls of Impulse.
Warpacks are revered as rare, blockchain relics that seemingly exist in a dimension of their own, infinitely expanding to put in as many items as possible, and activating their power to help in Warpack Battles.
Each dawn, every gladiator receives quests to worthy warriors. These quests are said to be spectral remnants of past champions’ achievements, chosen by Atlas Veritas to uphold the city’s competitive spirit. Gladiators often speculate that completing these quests grants Impulse Points.
Tmcgroul is known as “The Veteran of Impulse” among the city’s denizens. His record is spotless, not because he wins every fight but because of his unmatched strategic foresight. Warriors seeking improvement often spectate his battles, hoping to pick up insights. Tmcgroul himself is a reluctant gladiator. He has the most rating and achievements out of all the warriors of the Arena, and whispers say, that he had participated in the creation of Cairo Arena himself.
When Morro steps into the arena, even the stones of Impulse seem to hold their breath. His rare appearances are seen as harbingers of major events, and gamblers across the city place massive bets on his battles. Rumor has it that Morro holds a unique Warpack that he created during his battles, which grants him unfathomable strength. Those who win against him may be the next champion who will go out into the unknown beyond the city’s walls.
